Gather your friends, family and coworkers, and join us for the 11th Annual Jed McKnight Open Golf Tournament to support The Rocky Mountain MS Center July 14, 2008 at Indian Peaks Golf Course
The tournament will be in the same format as in the past - the four-person Scramble with a shotgun start. This format allows each player in the group to tee off. The game continues by selecting the best spot to play the next shot. All players will play the next stroke from that spot, and play continues in this format until the ball is holed out. A "shotgun" start means that the foursomes will be spread over the entire course. In this way each team will begin at the same time. Each team must use 4 of each golfers' drives. By doing this, we even the playing field by handicapping teams who bring out the "ringer". Prizes will be given for longest putt, closest to the pin, and men's and women's longest drive. Last year these prizes included golf clubs, golf shoes, clothing, etc. We will also have a "pile" of raffle prizes which, in the past, have ranged from golf balls to golf bags and pull carts. Each golfer will receive 2 raffle tickets with their paid entry to the tournament. Additional tickets may be purchased for $1, of which all proceeds will be donated to the Rocky Mountain MS Center.
We are currently looking for sponsors to help out with the following contests:
Putting Contest Hole-in-One Contest Longest Drive (Men's and Women's) Closest to the Pin Longest Putt
We will once again offer the "special ball" and numerous other mini-games on various holes.
Special Ball! Cost: $20 (one per foursome) Payout: of the proceeds are split amongst the teams returning with the ball; of the proceeds are given to the Rocky Mountain MS Center Rules: 1.The ball MUST be in play during EVERY shot of the tournament (honor system, but lets not cheatits not worth it). 2.You must turn the ball in to the registrar (Anne Najera) upon your arrival at the clubhouse to be eligible for the prize. The challenge is open to individual golfers as well as full teams. Schedule 6:00am: Registration/Driving Range 12:00pm: Lunch 7:15am: Review rules of play 7:30am: Shotgun start Post Tournament: Awards presentation. Jed McKnight was a friend and the co-host of this tournament. Along with his family's help and blessings the tournament committee and I continue working toward making this the event we had always dreamed of. We have re-dedicated the tournament as the Jed McKnight Memorial Golf Tournament in remembrance of our friend and with his great big heart in mind. He left us a legacy of kindness, which we continue to honor. We love you Jed!
